The Philippine Embassy Indonesia

H.E. Ambassador Vidal Erfe Querol & the Philippines Embassy

In 2009  The Philippines Ambassador to Indonesia His Excellency Ambassador Vidal Erfe Querol initiated a partnership between the Philippine Embassy in Indonesia and Kinar Pustaka Foundation to build the first ‘Philippine – Indonesia Friendship Library’.  It was the end of Ambassador Querol’s term in Indonesia and he would like to promote friendship between the two Nations’ youth through education before returning back to the Philippines. The first ‘Philippine-Indonesia Friendship Library’ was built at a state middle school SMPN 1 Karang Bahagia  in Bekasi, a satellite city outside the capital Jakarta.  The school was selected due to its lack of resources and facilities in the region.  Following the building of our library SMPN 1 Karang Bahagia became the no.1 middle school in Bekasi and was used as a showcase middle school by the local government and the Ministry of Education, furthermore the Ministry of Education built a Chemistry and Physics Lab at the school. Currently The Philippine Embassy and the foundation together with the Philippine Women Association have built 3 Philippine-Indonesia Friendship libraries.
